Atari VCS is now available to buy

Three years after your original ad, you can finally buy the VCS VCS. It is available from today through the Atari website, Best Buy and Micro Center. On the Atari website, there are two versions of the console available. You can buy the base system of $ 300 oynx or the all package in the Walnut total of $ 400. The latter comes with a Gamepad by Joystick and Xbox. Both retail wireless peripherals for $ 60 separately.

In addition to approaching Atari Vault, a collection of 100 free retro games, the console can be duplicated as a PC. You can execute most modern desktop operating systems, including Windows, Linux and Chromeos, and come with the built-in Google Chrome browser. If the Games are not yours, the ATARI VCS also has access to an expanded and optimized version of the Anstream Arcade game subscription service that includes thousands of retro titles from a variety of vintage platforms.

Among the setbacks, such as the architect of the console, what goes back, it seemed that Atari VCS was condemned to become vaporware. Now, the question becomes if there is a hearing for a $ 400 console that is mostly a game of nostalgia. Projects such as Ouya demonstrates that it is difficult to enter a landscape dominated by the giants like Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony.
