Twitter might let you ‘unmmentalon’ itself from tweets

Twitter is exploring new ways to prevent “unwanted attention” that often generates harassment. The company is working on tools that, if launched, will allow users to prevent people from mentioning it without a block or mute button.

Explained by the Dominic Camozzi Twitter product designer as a “initial concept,” its features will give Twitter users to “open themselves” and control that can mark them on the tweet in the future.

Similar to not conveying yourself on Facebook, unmmentaling basically does not rotate your grip of the tweet and prevent you marked in the upcoming counter, according to the Mock-up distributed by Camozzi. This feature can also allow you to block certain users to mention you in the future without needing to block their accounts. Other potential iterations will allow you to block a new title for a number of days.

This concept is similar to that allows users to limit replies to their tweets. Like that feature, the ability to “uniteal” can help overcome some of the more toxic behaviors that often lead to large-scale harassment on Twitter. For example, in one version that is blessed by camozzi, this application will be able to tell you when you start getting “a lot”. From there, you can go up to your settings and changes that can mention you or pause them at all to “quickly overcome situations that suddenly increase.”

Features can provide additional tool users to handle situations when viral tweets produce large-scale harassment. In contrast to limiting replies, which must be done before you send a tweet, the “unmental” feature can be used after facts or proactively. The tools may not prevent people from saying bad things at all but can protect the user so as not to navigate toxic reply or block or click hundreds of accounts manually.

Camozzi doesn’t say when, or even if, these features can make their way to users, but that Twitter is looking for feedback about ideas.
