For many people, one of the biggest investments they have ever made is the purchase of new vehicles. Understandably, the owner wants to protect their vehicle, especially to prevent them from being stolen. Although the pandemic guarding more people in Europe, Ford said vehicle crime remained a significant problem and even in increasing several countries. Traditional car alarms can block thieves, but most people tend to ignore them at all.
Ford has introduced a security system that is connected to a new smartphone called Securialert, available for vehicle owners for the first time. This system was previously known as the guard mode. When activated, Securialert will notify the smartphone vehicle owner if I identify any vehicle activity, such as efforts to open the door or get access to keys.
Ford said this service provides peace of mind to customers when the car is not visible or parked where the traditional alarm cannot be heard. The owner can activate Securialert when they walk away from the vehicle using the arm or disarm the switch on the Smartphone FordPass application. When activated, the system uses an existing sensor to identify if an effort is made to access the vehicle. Using an integrated onboard modem, the car can immediately send push notifications to the owner’s smartphone when the activity involving their vehicle is detected.
This application will reveal the time and reason for the Securialert alarm through a smartphone and provide a known last location for vehicles. For example, if an attempt is made to unlock the door using a key, which usually won’t trigger a vehicle alarm system, Securialert will send a warning. The feature is useful in identifying efforts to access cars using cloning or stolen locks.
When vehicle owners need to use their vehicle, they can disarm securailalert through the Fordpass application. Ford said the securaialert system was introduced to commercial vehicles earlier this year and is part of a series of connected features now available for Ford customers.
