Google Workspace, Productivity and Company Collaboration Suite, is set to receive new client side encryption features that are expected to improve security for customers of all sizes.
This announcement is one of a handful of security improvements for Google Workspace and Google Drive, which is designed to improve data security in the new hybrid work environment.
The lack of end-to-end encryption in Google’s workspace has become the main source of criticism, with some business choosing for fewer alternative rich features that offer default encryption.

However, the addition of client side encryption gives Google the opportunity to throw itself to the industry with regulations that mandate the use of end-to-end encryption, especially financial and health care.
New encryption control will be launched for beta testing in the coming weeks.

According to Google, the client side encryption feature will first be launched for the most popular workspace service, including drives, documents, sheets, and slides.
Google says this feature will be extended to Google to meet later, with some shows it will eventually make your way to Gmail too.
Initially, the feature will be reported to allow Google Workspace users to save their encryption keys with one of four partners, namely flowcrypt, futurex, thales or VRTRU.
However, TechCrunch reports that Google will publish details this year to allow businesses to organize their own main services, allowing them to take over their encryption keys.
