Southwest Airlines Passengers had to deal with thousands of delayed and canceled flights this week caused by two technical problems that affected its systems. Monday, the third-party meteorological data provider of the airline has undergone intermittent performance issues that prevented it from receiving the information that its flights are needed. According to the Volaware, 1,541 website of its flights were delayed on Monday as a result of the suite. One day later, the southwest told CNN that it had to cancel about 500 flights, or 15% of its schedule, after meeting a second problem.
The company stated that it was suffering from a question of network connectivity Tuesday afternoon that affected its reservation system. He even had to ask the administration of the federal aviation to issue a termination of land at the national level so that the airline prevents one of his planes from taking off while the company solved a “computer issue of booking”. In addition to 500 flights being canceled, the connectivity problem was also delayed between 900 and 1,300 flights on the basis of volhaware data.
The FAA, however, levied soil stop after an hour and a spokesman stated that the airline is “resuming normal operations after a brief break of theft”. While the Southwest still investigates the issue, it does not believe that the two problems are connected. The company has been affected with serious technical problems, just as trips have begun to pick up again since the beginning of the pandemic. The airlines are currently benefiting from a resurgence of activity following a long period of travel ban with significant impact on the travel and tourism industry.
