Ads in the app will come to Quest Oculus

In the coming weeks, Facebook plans to start testing the Oculus Quest owner’s ad will see while playing games and using the application with their headsets. The first will appear in Blaston, the first person’s bullet – hell of the game resolution, followed by software from two other developers who are not named in the next few weeks.

“For now, this is a test with several applications,” the company said in a blog posts seen by the threshold. “After we see how this test is running and combining feedback from developers and society, we will provide more details about when advertising can be broader available on the Oculus platform and in the Oculus Mobile application.”

As you can see from the gif above, you can direct your controller through an ad in the game to interact with it and save it to be seen later. Meanwhile, tapping three DOTS icons display options to hide ads. Facebook said the introduction of advertising in-headset “does not change” current privacy policy or policy. In particular, the company strives to record it will not use information stored in your Oculus Quest Headset to target certain promotions on you. Included in the case that is processed by the camera on your headset and whatever information you share with Oculus Move, the fitness tracking platform. The company also said it had “no plans” to use movement data to target current advertisements.

Facebook continues to say it introduces advertising in the application to explore new ways to help developers generate income because it seems to make VR as a “independent” platform. This also records additional income will help make more affordable headsets such as Oculus Quest 2 $ 299.

Just like his decision last year to need a Facebook account to use oculus hardware, the current announcement is likely to interfere with VR fans. But in many ways, when it comes to oculus and advertising, the writing has been on the wall for a while. Since 2019, Facebook has used data collected from oculus devices to push targeted ads to a connected Facebook account, and recently began testing ads in the Oculus Mobile application.
