Wear smartwatches is a penny so, unfortunately, most of them walk on rather old hardware. The majority of them, including those launched last year, still used the Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 chipset that began again in 2018. Chipmaker did have one platform that can be used updated but so far only mobvoi that uses it at Ticwatch Pro 3. Now it seems it will have it will have Companion and Mobvoi once again lead with Ticwatch E3.
Running on the latest smartwatch chipset is not just about getting the latest and greatest. This also means, for example, better performance and better power efficiency, two elements that are very important for small devices. It can also determine whether smart will receive an increase in the use of OS which is highly anticipated later this year but many are still based on speculation.
Meanwhile, however, Mobvoi seems to be preparing to launch the second Snapdragon in the world 4100 SmartWatch. From short hands-on distributed by Russian Instagram users Andrey_Kellun, Ticwatch E3 is very similar to Ticwatch Pro 3 even so. It can be clearly visible on two side buttons and the lack of a rotating crown.
In terms of specifications, the packaging confirms the Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor, the 2.5D display is not OLED according to the source, IP68 ranking, and VO2 Max tracking, among others. The charging cable also reminds the Ticwatch Pro 3 which is magnetically attached to the back of the SmartWatch. And, yes, it also ran using the OS.
Considering the brand “E”, E3 Ticwatchs is likely to stand lower than Ticwatch Pro 3 on the price fronts. Mobvoi does have an event scheduled for June 16 where it might reveal a smartwatch. Hopefully, it will also have some news about whether it and Ticwatch Pro 3 are qualified to get updates “Wear OS 3.0” later this year, something very few Smartwatch makers have committed.
