“American Idol” has crowned its newest winner.

Abi Carter, a 21-year-old musician from Indio, California, won the popular vote to become the Season 22 champion during Sunday night’s finale.

Jack Blocker, a 25-year-old graphic designer from Dallas, Texas, and Will Moseley, a 23-year-old musician from Hazelhurst, Georgia, finished as the runners-up.

The music industry’s elite gathered to build up the suspense over the three-hour finale, featuring guest performances by Jon Bon Jovi, 2004 winner Fantasia Barrino, Jason Mraz, Wynonna Judd, Seal, New Kids on the Block, and more.

Judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, along with host Ryan Seacrest, were also present, mourning Perry’s final episode on the show.

Truthfully, Abi’s victory seemed assured after her first performance received such prolonged applause that she broke down in tears, with Bryan struggling to interject. Her win was solidified by the approval of Billie Eilish.

“I wish you nothing but the best,” the Grammy winner said in a pre-recorded video that left Abi sinking to the floor in shock. “I’m here to support you, and I love you.”

Abi had captivated the judges and viewers since her audition with Eilish’s song “What Was I Made For?” from the “Barbie” movie, earning one of three platinum tickets.
